Looking at the current events when social distance is already an everyday habit and people gave it in, to celebrate 100 years of prominent volunteer work of SCI is a great challenge. But when you have a spirit of a fighter and don’t have the word ‘give up’ in your vocabulary, you start producing the new ideas adjusted to new realities. Social Tea is one of these initiatives dedicated to 100 years of SCI to get SCI family together and share the stories in order not to forget what was done and to commemorate the anniversary.

A well-known workcamp from SCI-Germany “Sun+Wind=Power?!” took place in this Power Park from 8nd to 22nd of August. Near the Danish border, on the Flensburg Fjord, is the most northern city in Germany the workcamp was located.

“Living and working together, learning from each other” - the main motto of such international voluntary projects as workcamps. That is actually what is going on indeed the workcamps, reaching the goals to promote peace, disarmament, and international understanding through volunteering.

The year 2021 remains the centenary history of Service Civil International (SCI), born out of a passionate search for peace, immediately after World War I. Its board members were actively involved in the peace-creating movement: the ones dedicated almost their whole life to it. Among numerous people related with the NGO, appeared John Myers - Project Coordinator, currently retiring. A look back on his over 44-year SCI history - in the reportage below.

Greetings to all of you! My name is Lili. I am a long-term volunteer at SCI-Germany that celebrates 100 years this year. I would like to dedicate this report to this wonderful organisation where I work as a Placement Officer. I will start from the very beginning and tell you about the opportunities offered here.
