7th YOUTH Contest: Foreign in Europe
How does it feel to be in a foreign country, where no one understands you? Have you ever experienced and overcome a culture shock? Imagine you were forced to move to another place because you see no perspectives at your home country. How do you face prejudices because of your outer appearance or your origin? What does home mean to you? How does it feel when a foreign language, culture or country starts to become familiar?
We want your texts and videos for our video and writing contest “Foreign in Europe”. What does “foreign” mean to you and in what ways have you experienced it?
It’s up to you if you present your statement in a short video or in an essay, a story or a report.
Participating is easy:
Register on youthreporter.eu and upload your video clip and/or text from 5th of May until 31st of August 2014. Your competition entry will be online at youthreporter.eu and can be seen and voted for by your friends and other visitors. Users will be able to vote for your entry until 15th of September 2014. The text and the video with the highest number of positive votes win a public’s choice award.
The final decision will be made by an independent jury in October 2014. The winners in both categories will be announced shortly after.

Who can participate?

Video Contest
Short film, animation, interview, fictional commercial or sketch: There are no limits to creativity! Your video should be edited, set to music and not longer than five minutes. Upload it to youtube.com.
Register on youthreporter.eu or log in if you are already a user. At MYouthreporter and „Fremd in Europa” you can submit your entry until 31st of August 2014. You need a link to your video and a title. A description for your video and a list of your cast and crew is optional.
Your entry has to be made entirely by yourself. That means you alone hold the rights for it. Videos not made by you are not allowed. It doesn’t matter if the video is new or has been published before – as long as it wasn’t submitted to a video contest on youthreporter.eu in the past.
If you want to use music with your video, you must have the Musicians permission or the rights to use it. When in doubt, hands off your CD-rack! If you don’t want to concern yourself with complicated licences (or play something yourself), try Music Libraries or Common Licence Music. You can find an assortment here.
