Mercado da Terra, is an associative market of organic, natural, local and seasonal products that began in 2011. In addition to a tool for the dissemination of the values of ecology and fair trade, where consumers and producers can meet and promote local commerce
It is consolidating as a reference in the ecological diet and the sustainable way of life in the city of Lugo. It is organized jointly, through meetings and working groups in which consumers and producers participate. It takes place every Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the municipal square.
When I met the" Mercado da Terra" ("Land Market"), it caught my attention and I liked discovering initiatives like this during the months I was in Lugo with the European Interreg program as part of the European Solidarity Corps. So, as soon as I saw the opportunity to share the concept through a video and disseminate it by participating in the Biomovies Global Youth annual contest, I did not think so. Even more so when I learned that the prize is to attend COP24, the UN climate change conference that this year will take place in Poland in December. There he will work hand in hand with the United Nations communication team.
I saw the videos that had been presented in previous editions and I had my doubts about whether to present something or not, because most of the videos are of solidarity projects in developing countries with very impressive and attractive images, visually speaking. Still, I thought I had to try and that I could present something from the area where I was. Although I would like to be doing more solidarity projects in countries that need it more. If I'm not there and I can not go at the moment, what do I do? Complain? I will have the opportunity to be there.
This year the competition is tough. There are really nice projects that even when I watch the video I put "like" because it is inevitable. I have to admit that I made several videos for this contest, from different initiatives that I knew and liked in Lugo, such as the Bico de Grao store, A cova do raposo and the Bank of time. In addition to this video from Mercado da Terra. Of all of them, finally the jury has selected as one of the 20 finalist videos of the Mercado da Terra.
Now, among these 20 finalist videos, the one that gets the most number of views and "likes" on YouTube, will be the winner and will be able to attend the UN climate change conference this year. The deadline to vote ends on October 28. If you like the video and want to share it, I invite you to do so.
