The day has come
So, here it is: tomorrow I'm off to Berlin to start my EVS. Can't believe it's finally here!
It feels like forever since the kindergarten chose me as their next volunteer and now, almost seven months later, the day I've been waiting for has finally arrived. Okay, so my EVS doesn't technically start until next Tuesday, but that gives me a whole week to explore Berlin and its surroundings, which I'm really looking forward to.
I've not quite finished packing yet, mainly because I'm struggling with getting it all down to 20kg! But I've said most of my goodbyes already, which is never easy, but at least there's plenty of space in the flat for people to come visit and stay over. Finding out last week that I'm going to be living alone (at least for the first few months) was a bit of a shock, but hopefully it turns out okay and I don't come across too many problems.
Overall, I'm very nervous but totally excited at the same time. Nervous about, well, firstly getting on that plane (I hate flying!) and then, once I'm there, I've got to worry about settling down, making friends, fitting in, etc. But of course I'm excited about the whole experience and what will be in store for me over the next twelve months.
