Sonderlich viel Sonderborg? Expectations are in the air...
Let's try again:)
It’s almost half a year now that I have let out a little sream of joy during my biology lesson, after having (I admit) secretly listened to a voicemail from DKS-Deutsche Kindergärten Sonderborg.
I would go to Denmark for one year. That sounded like a plan for me…actually a really good one. I wanted (still want) to work with children, find out, what I have to do to make them listen to me, find out, what they like and what I like, become involved in a team and use my strenghts…maybe loose some of my weaknesses I wanted to live away from home for a while and learn a new language, become involved in a foreign culture.
Alll that would be possible thank’s to EVS. JACKPOT! (my expectations and anticipation were running wild) The only problem: my Jackpot wasn’t accepted by the EU. And as European Voluntary Service without the European Union doesn’t make much sense, I had to say goodbye to my plan.
And now we try it again...I say hello again (my expectations and I are having a bit of an on-off-relationship) But this time I try not to expect too much, because I don’t want to be disappointed again. However that’s not so easy and of course there are pictures in my head of little blond children (wearing raincoats), of me and Alina (who I have already visited during a crazy Interrail-journey), of the herbs she would want to put in our kitchen, of the other girls, I would like to invite in our kitchen...And I actually really want it.
I would like to stand on my own feet (with the help of this nice extra foot called EU) and use all my skills to make this cultural exchange an enriching experience!
