My Mid-term seminar
Just a few days ago me and some volunteers were talking about the different topics like: Lockdown crisis, how we overcome it while being at home, what we will do after ESC volunteering, how volunteering influenced on our behaviour, how we improved our 8-key competences. Also we were discussing about the EU policy, german culture and language.
During the volunteering Midterm seminar, that was hold by Erasmus+ we had a space to express and share with our anxiety, experience and knowledge. As a reflection of my volunteering period, I discovered some new skills, character traits. Almost one year being away from home, I gathered new knowledges in the field of non-formal education, improved my language skills(english, russian and a bit german). Personally I become more patient, tolerant, skeptic. I started to appreciate more the advantages(listening skill, empathy, respect approach towards people) and capabilities( writing an articles, doing a webinar, making videos) that I have. So far I have experienced my digital skills by making a video about the youth exchanges, that was organized by our organization. The topics were about non-verbal communication, urbanism. Also I did my first webinar on online platform about the Storytelling. I shared with you some tips and tools, that I use in my work while doing SMM for our organisation’s social media pages.
But changes are not always positive. Being in a foreign environment for some period, you discover some characteristic traits, that are not so beneficial and not progressive for your social development. For example shy character, less courages to say people directly what you think about their approach with you, to feel good enough to raise fears and anxieties, whatever you have for a moment in office, or in environment where you are in. Quite often it even bothers you to have a constructive mind for a conflict solving situations. And during the seminar we tried to observe some options for it. For me the interesting session was about 8 key competences. We mostly discussed about the social competence, that are the main points of the non-formal education. You can improve your skills on digital, mathematical or language competences just by taking part in some Masterclass trainings, but I am sure, that social competence is only one, that you can develop by taking part in such experimental and emotionally filled period as volunteering is.
