Italien Entdecken: Tage 2 und 3
How my kids learnt to count in Italian and....how they enjoyed a real Italian pizza!
My project "Italien entdecken" with my kids continues and I am pretty satisfied of the results! The trick is being creative in order to keep kids' enthusiasm up. And let's not forget the main goal: have fun all together!
Well, the second day dedicated to my project was related to teach my kids how to count from 0 to 10 in Italian. Pretty ambitious, considering that it could be seen like a "boring school lesson". Hence, I thought about the popular game "UNO": kids love it, they play it at least five time each day! I asked the kids to repeat with me the numbers in Italian meanwhle I was giving the cards. The results? The next day kids who joined this project were counting in Italian during their UNO round. Yey!
But it was the third day that gave me the biggest joy and pride to be an Italian volunteer. It was the day of "let's bake a real pizza" following the recept my mum gave to me. I prepared at home the pasta for pizza as it required two hours to be ready to be baked. In the school's kitchen I showed kids the procedure: make a "ball" of pasta, roll it, then put tomato sauce and mozzarella on it. Kids were over the moon! There was a long queue and each kid wanted to bake its own pizza. At the end of the day, we baked 20 pizza. It was a pleasure to see into my kids' eyes the happiness of having made something that "the adults do". I think I will repeat the pizza's experience once again!
