Half-time: Mid-term training exclusively in German!
“Wir möchten dich bitten, eine kurze Präsentation von Deinem Aufnahmeprojekt in DEUTSCH vorzubereiten. Diese sollte ca. 5 Minuten dauern ….”
It is hard enough to comprehend that I arrived to the half time of my EVS, but the invitation what I’ve got for the mid-term training made it even harder.

Let just take my modest situation: I arrived in Germany to begin my EVS on 4th of October, 2011. In school and university I’ve learned three foreign languages: English, Italian and Romanian (but no German). So I came here knowing two or three German sentences: Guten Morgen! Aufwiedersehen! Alles Gute!
After moving to Stuttgart I had the opportunity to visit 4 times a week German language courses. Till now I reached the B1 level, which means, even if a little bit slow, but I can communicate. You know… the daily routine stuff, workstuff. And honestly I find it hard to make this presentation in “DEUTSCH”. Not impossible, just hard.
I was just wondering: what if someone didn’t have German courses just once a month? How will they prepare and present it, with just actually basic knowledge of the German language? Or they should just skip the mid-term training? Be embarrassed?
I propose something: go and live half a year in Hungary and then make a presentation in HUNGARIAN!
Viel Erfolg! ;)
