GREEN MAP OF TIMIŞOARA (my personal project)

As I was teaching teens social skills and our sessions were built on nonformal methods of education, we had a lot of discussions. One of the topic we were speaking about was recycling. I made them two groups to discuss and find arguments why is recycling easy/difficult in Romania.

There were different answers, but one was common: „There is no container near my house for separated garbage.“ The fact is when I came to Timisoara I decided to separate garbage from the flat I am living in. But! The closest container I found was at least 1 km far away from our block of flats.

So there is a question. Is this about lazyness or about bad distribution of containers?

My opinion is, that the situation could be solved by better promotion of green opportunities in city. I decided to create a map of green opportunities in Timişoara and I would like to do mapping of different things like:

1.)CONTAINERS FOR SEPARATED GARBAGE (plastic bottles, glass, paper, textil,...)
2.)FRESH MILK AUTOMATS & FOUNTAINS FOR DRINKING WATER
3.)GREEN SHOPPING (repair stores for shoes, clocks, electronics, etc., second hand bookshops, secondhand shops with clothes, square markets with local food productions, bike shops, restaurants with vegetarian food,...)
4.)CYCLO LINES/WAYS & PARKS (and their stories)
5.)PUBLIC AND FREE WI-FI CONNECTION
6.)NGOs & INSTITUTIONS working on the field of ENVINROMENTAL PROTECTION, ECO-EDUCATION, RECYCLING, ALTERNATIVE FUELS, etc

I hope my wish is realiseable. First of all I will contact municipality and its bodies responsible for envinroment and companies responsibles for distribution of containers. I hope there is any list of distributed containers. If not, there is a lot of work to map it by walking, but I will love to do it. I also hope there is any centralised database of shops, I mean economical subjects that pay a taxes, so I can filtrate just these connected to this topic. If not,.... walking. And speaking to owner what is this bussines about.

Finally with a help of my colleagues from Media Centre I would like to create interactive e-map avaible on internet. To get possibility to Timişoara citizens to find closest point for their green thinking. And also distribution of flyers from house to house with information about it is possible.
