Berlin - you are amazing
Krokodilprinzessin ist zurück in Deutschland. Nach einem schönen letzten Abend in Irland, hieß es: Abschied nehmen. Jetzt muss sie sich erst wieder zu Hause eingewöhnen.
So finally I arrived back in Berlin. I had to take an early flight and that meant I had to go up at 3.30... although I spent my last evening with the other volunteers and friends. And I was happy that I could see Marine (EVS in my project) and say goodbye, because she was all the week away on a round trip with her parents. Anyhow I had to go home quite early to fetch some sleep and pack the rest of my belongings. My backpack was bursting and in the end it had 23 Kilos - so it gained some weight:-) in the beginning I had just 16 kilo. Whatever - the airport employees didn't mind. I experienced some shocking situations with an incompetent german mother and her son. She was talking louder than the announcements, which was very distracting in the sleepy morning hours and I just hoped, that not all the people in Berlin will have started to have such kind of manners! I arrived in Berlin without any problems, but as soon as I came out of the airplane I had to get rid off my clothes. I wore a fleece-sweater and a winter jacked and well it was already 25 Degrees at 10 O’clock in the morning! Incredible. Now one week passed and I went to university and around the city, lots of changes happened. Berlin is lively and full of movements. You look around and suddenly a house disappeared and somewhere something new was built... the people in my field of studies getting less and less, so you are finally meeting them more times a week. And I have to repress reflexes like: just crossing the street without taking care of the lights, and if I was successful in taking care of the lights than I wait for sounds of the street lights, waving at the bus, because it should stop, greeting everybody, driving on the right side, and if somebody surprisingly asks me something not to reply in English ;-). Have to tidy my brain!
What else? I meet already some people of the EVS-Regio group on the weekend to visit the Berlin-Wall-Memorial-Centre and relax in the Mauerpark.
Will see what's going on! Next stop for me is Austria.
