Adaptation
Hello, my Estonian friends!
Hello, my Estonian friends! I have decided to write blogs for you every now and then. I want to keep in touch with you, so I expect you to write/report back to me.
I have heard you have a retired professor visiting the Monday cafes. Use him well, he probably has a lot of experience and since he decided to join you, he has a strong desire to help you.
I adapted to the Slovenian lifestyle almost instantly. Similar to the farewell party, my family threw me a house-warming party. In the hallway was a poster with many wishes such as: "Mow the lawn, walk the dog, write the master thesis," etc. In other words, "Start working!" All joking aside, I was happy to have come home and start a new chapter. I immediately began writing my master thesis, which is still plunged into darkness, but I am groping my way out of it. My English is under careful scrutiny, especially the collocations that I use. That is why my written English probably sounds quite formal. I want to provide you with a qualitative reading, so I am checking my collocations constantly. Besides my studies, I am busy with breaking concrete out of my terrace, which takes considerable time, but it is still refreshing after sitting behind the computer for hours and hours. My only hobby at the moment is my band. We are progressing slowly, but steadily. The 6-month pause made a substantial impact on our performance, but we are working our way up where we already were. We have managed to write 4 songs and 2 more are waiting to be put on a pedestal.
Simultaneously, I miss Estonia and the energy from VitaTiim. I was lucky enough to carry some of it with me to Slovenia, but I cannot wait for the moment when I get to see all of your faces. I will see Julia's next week already as she is crossing Slovenia on her way to Belgrade. We will go to lunch together and I will have the amazing opportunity to refresh my Russian speaking skills. Often I catch myself reading Cyrillic and comparing the Slovenian translation or marvel at the fact that I can read it.
I hope you are all doing well and are continuing to share your boundless energy at VitaTiim. Write to me how you are, what have you been up to or what you plan to do. I will write to you in 2-3 weeks.
Have fun,
Luka
