9. Platz: "When were you happiest?" EVS in Slovenia
I was born in Istanbul, Turkey. Nowadays, I’m a volunteer in European Commission Youth Project. It’s European Volunteer Service. Within the European Voluntary Service programme, young people can spend up to 12 months abroad as European volunteers helping in local projects in various fields.
In EVS, activities must take place in a country other than where the volunteer live. And it must be non-profit making and unpaid. It mustn’t involve real job and last for a limited period. (Normally between 2 and 12 months) It is not a recreation and tourist activity. EVS is not a language course and exploitation of cheap work force. EVS should contribute to developing the voluntary sector and civil society.
My project is about Slovenian Internet Television. (www.kotv.si) My task is attending workshops and other training courses in different fields (video and audio, mortgaging, working in the studio with lights and sound, photography, internet and computing, designing, organizing and realizing events in the youth centre.)
My blog (www.cem.evs.kotlovnica.si ) could be a guide for potential volunteer who are thinking about participating in European Voluntary Service. And I give an introduction in what we call “European Voluntary Service” or in a short way “EVS”
And this contest will create a bridge to open up international experience for me.
What is happiness were asked to Stephen Hawking. He answered:
“Happiness is understanding.”
Thank you in advance.
