The On-arrival Training
Information about the On-arrival training, which is included in the EVS Programm and aims to help the volunteers in their first days. Including some of my Experiences.
*Note: Not Ready jet*
The On-arrival training is a pre set training from the erasmus+ youth in action program, to prepare the volunteer for the experiences and the life in a foreign country.
On the one hand, it is aimed to give the volunteers all the necessary knowledge about the EVS program, such as Information about working hours, insurance, free time, food and free time money etc.
And on the other hand, it’s aimed to prepare the volunteers for possible difficulties.
This training is a good opportunity to meet other volunteers, exchange experiences and have a great time.
Also, we had our first taste of the Finnish language there.
The On-arrival training also includes an introduction to the culture of your receiving country.
We got introduced to some finnish history, through a visit to the arctic museum near Kokkola.
You can see housing of Hunters around 1900, of generals during the Winter and Continuation War. A few Explorations to the Antarctic are also exhibited.
One evening was focused on maybe the most important part of Finnish culture, the sauna.
The history of sauna and the proper use of sauna were introduced to us.
In fact the sauna is such a big part of finnish culture and history that I will dedicate a complete article to it.
All in all, it was a memorable wonderful experience to see and get to know different people that are somehow in a similar situation as you.
Added to the article is our timetable we had during this Training, so you can get a sense for how these trainings are executed practically.
