Solidarity - Searching for a definition
(I would recommend a lyric to my essay: MUNA - I Know A Place”)
Having run through countless dictionaries and articles, my beliefs have only been verified by experts, claiming that solidarity is the clasp between all types of communities. However, I have realised, it is not researching dictionaries and social studies that would help me out so that I can define such a thing.
The definition lies in the deepest parts of our hearts and turns up in very different ways, for as we know, there are no two humans on this planet, who would be exactly alike. We are only tiny tots in a world, which is as well, a tiny tot in an universe. You see, this, the universe is the best example that I can think of, considering solidarity. Let me explain.
I have once read a beautiful citation, which had an enormous impact on my personal equation in light of society and community.
‘Even after all this time, the Sun never
says to Earth, ‘You owe me.’ Look what happens with a love like that.
It lights the whole sky.’ - Hāfiz
I personally believe that our whole universe operates with tenderness and solidarity. The Sun enlightens all of the planets and gets nothing in exchange. Trees cleanse air and give oxygen to the human race, and most of the times, get nothing in exchange. I smile at people with an intense hint of sadness in their eyes, and for sure, I get nothing in exchange... and I find it just alright. The reason, why I say that is because I am actually given something more precious, unique and genuine. I am given the feeling of being able to lend a hand to someone trapped in the deep, dark hole of some kind of unhappiness. I give and get filled up with love and positive energy. The following day, my smile might be passed on to another in need. This is how I find, solidarity works and what solidarity is.
Solidarity is a way of tolerating and taking care of each other insensibly to be the insurance that there is always something to live and fight for. Even if that is only a slight smile from a stranger on the street…
,,Everyone is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always.”
