My first day

5 months of my project will pass soon. And for me now it is so interesting to just look forward and don't think what happened in the past. My first day... It was the beginning of my adventure with the ESC project. I didn't know what would be next, how it would be, I was really scared to change my life, but I was in anticipation of a new part of my life.

My trip to Leipzig started in Minsk. It was summer, in the evening I had a bus to Moscow. It was so hard to hold back the tears, because I understood, that I will not see my parents for at least one year. The next morning I was in Moscow. It was my first step. Next day I had a flight to Leipzig.

When I arrived, a woman from my organization met me and it was so great, because it was the first time in Europe for me and even first flight! And after that we went to my new flat, more exactly room. But it was such a strange moment. When I was in the car, I had the feeling that I forgot how to speak English and I couldn't say anything. Now for me it's funny, but no.

So, finally we arrived! The flat is located not far from city center. Only 15 min by tram and 20 min by bicycle. I was the second one in the flat, so i have a big choice. There were 3 free rooms, and I could decide which one I wanted. One big plus when you are arrive earlier than others. If you have such a opportunity, try to be in your flat earlier than others.

After all, finally I met a friend of mine. He was happy to see me on the project. And I again want to give you some tips.

1. Try to find another participants in your city. How to find them? You can ask your organization to share their Facebook group with you. There you can write a post, that soon you will arrive and somebody maybe will start to communicate with you. If not, try to write anybody. Why you need it? Only imagine, you are alone in another country, city. And in the end, it's your new home for 6-12 months. New friends are always good!
2. Explore the city.Yes, enjoy it when you have free time! When I arrived I had one week free. And it was summer. Best time to see the city. Because after that, when the daily routine will start, you will be too lazy to go into the city center.
3. Go to every party. Do you want your project and life will to be full of great people? If yes, visit every ESC party. There you can find a lot of new people, just relax, talking, drinking, dancing and enjoying!

And in the end I want to say, that my first day was really great. I knew that some people were waiting for me, and you know, after that, you don't feel afraid to go. You just go! I like my room, I like my flat, I love my flatmates, I'm happy.
