Let’s play at Deutsches SPIELEmuseum!
The Deutsches SPIELEmuseum was first founded in Hamburg in 1986 and was moved to Chemnitz in 1995.
For the person, who has always loved games and was a very playful kid even creating her own games, finding a Museum of Games with a large and comfortable playroom with thousands of games in Chemnitz, the German city I live in now, was a real surprise and joy.
The Deutsches SPIELEmuseum was first founded in Hamburg in 1986 and was moved to Chemnitz in 1995. The museum has a vast collection of about 75,000 historical games from different decades and the collection is constantly growing. It’s located in the upper floor of the building and offers audio guides in German and English, which tell lots of interesting stories about origin and development of various games from around the world.
Upstairs you can currently find an area for puzzles. It offers wide range of puzzles of various difficulties. If you are aware of the positive impact of solving puzzles on brain and mood, you will definitely take a chance to challenge yourself.
The games room of the building is on the ground floor. There is immense number of games for all the ages and tastes. The diversity of the games will spin your head and make it really difficult to choose which game to play. The selection ranges from monopolies, scrabble to Catan, chess, Azul and many many more!
Since my stay in Chemnitz, I have already used the chance to come and play various games with my friends at the Deutsches SPIELEmuseum.
What’s more, I have been volunteering at the SPIELEmuseum and it’s always a joy to see so many families coming to the SPIELEmuseum with their children and grandchildren and spending really entertaining and fun time.
So when in Chemnitz, come and join the play!
