How I became an ESC volunteer.
This is my story how i decided to start a volunteering year and how i feel after 4 months of my ESC year.
Hi people, I’m Raf from Armenia,
I am volunteering in the international buro of Berlin based public, non-formal educational organization CHANCE. I started my volunteering approximately 4 months ago and now I want to share with you my experience with CHANCE.
At CHANCE International, with my other collague (voluntter) from Armenia, I am doing everything related to project promotion, SMM (social media marketing) and PR.
All this story began when, in this year I graduated from the Faculty of Journalism in Yerevan (Armenia), and although I had a favorite job, I felt that I was missing something else.
I knew about ESC before, but I did not think that this was a suitable option for me (only when I was here I realized that I was wrong). But my friends and acquaintances, who already had this experience, recommended find a program suitable for me and submit an application.
“But this is volunteering, what I can learn or do there,” I said, not even suspecting that one of the most interesting and full of discoveries year in my life waits me here.
I decided to look for opportunities and at first I was a little disappointed, because I could not find something that would really interesting for me.
But, one day I saw a CHANCE open call. where they were looking for a volunteer from Armenia with social media marketing and PR skills for promotion of non-formal educational youth exchanges, trainings, seminars, summer schools etc.
I applied for, but, honestly, I did not expected that I will be chosen and today I will write my review about volunteering. And now, already 4 months have passed since I live in the capital of Germany. And what can I say? It‘s cool! when you have the opportunity to grow personally in every sense.
I still discovering and learning a lot of new about non-formal education, about Erasmus + program, about EU, about Europe, about volunteering and, even, about myself.
Another big benefit of work in the non-formal educational organization CHANCE is numerous, various and interesting youth exchanges and trainings where you also learn a lot, while meeting new people, having fun, hearing interesting stories, playing educational games and, in general, get to know different people from different countries and cultures.
I want to note that recently I attended a on-arrival seminar in beautiful and old city Weimar.I met wonderful guys and I made new friends. During this one week, I realized that ESC is also about friendship, about a good time and beautiful memories...
ESC is a chance to see a lot of things from another sight and I am happy that I have a opportunity to do it.
