Farewell to Summer
/
Hello, dear Estonian friends! This is it. I'm writing the final chapter in my master thesis. Currently, I'm at 50 pages and hoping to count up to around 55. I'm quite proud to have written so much. Before I started, I couldn't have imagined writing more than 30 pages, let alone 50 or more. But somehow I have managed to do so. Keep your fingers crossed so my mentor likes it. :)
Having said that, other projects are on the horizon. The first to be realised is singing with my choir at the Farewell to Summer festival. Like in Estonia, we greet summer and say goodybe, though it's not a festival of such importance as in Estonia. We will be singing with Brother Avsenik Ensemble, which is the most successful commercial band in the history of Slovenia. The founder died last year, but his children continue his legacy. We will be singing 7 songs from their repertoire and I'll send some videos when I get them. The second project is connected to the choir as well. We are going to a Grand Prix choir competition in Tolosa, Spain. Even better news is that we will be staying there for free. The choir has been invited, therefore our food and accommodation expenses are covered by the organisers. We only have to pay for the transportation. We are going by coach, which will be a 1-day trip. How awesome is that?! :D I'm extremely motivated, because this competition is extremely hardcore. We, mostly amateurs, will compete against top notch professional choirs from all over the world (the Philippines, Sweden, Spain, Ukraine, etc.) Usually I'm confident of the choir winning 1st or 2nd place, but now I'm simply honoured to be a part of this kind of event. But even that cannot compare to Let's Sound Together, because it will test my leadership skills as a musician. I have never done it on a larger scale, but I still feel quite confident in my abilities. Today, I'm meeting with the headmistress of the music school in Zagorje. She seemed quite interested in the project, which is good news indeed. I hope everything works out as it should.
I hope you are also doing great. Let me know how you are, what you're up to. :) As always, have fun!
