Tastes of diversity: art, enviroment and gastronomy. Marocco 2020
Tastes of Diversity is the fourth ongoing series of Youth Exchanges to be held in Marroco and the third time within the Erasmus + programme. We aim to link this time groups of youth from Germany, Spain, and Marroco with the rural local communities. We will discover similarities and differences and the experience will enrich the habits of everyday life.
With this project, we want to enable young people to get an idea of people of a different culture and country. They will be able to counteract xenophobia by their own experience. The focus is on understanding and cooperation between the European countries Germany and Spain and the neighbouring partner country Morocco.
During this process of getting to know each other, we want to support young people in strengthening their personality. it's best to learn in a relaxed, stimulating and positive environment, so we want to generate this context for the young people so that they can attend a variety of activities together where they can get the initiative and practice self-organization.
Each adolescent is a unique personality, so a wide range of key skills will be developed, like language proficiency, social skills, computer and media, cooking practice, everyday skills, and learning to learn. Its aim is to offer them self-learning opportunities and to support and accompany their self-organization and personal responsibility.
Through self-organization and self-responsibility in the implementation, they are strengthened in their personality. The results of their projects will show that they can make a difference, as the projects aim to support the civic engagement of the Moroccan partner organization „ Volunteers without Borders“ for the development of the region. Through close practical cooperation with dedicated local people, intercultural learning is implemented in a very concrete way.
After participating in various projects, they can better find out for themselves which professions they might be interested in. In any case, their employability will require working in a team, developing their own initiative, developing their social and intercultural skills and developing their language skills. The projects also allow them to acquire knowledge in new areas of work.
The method to realize all these goals is the work in groups in the following projects and themes:
Art
-Dance performance: The young people will build a relationship with their own body through the movement and discover that body language, thinking and feeling influence each other. There will be a public performance for the closing event in Timidarte.
-Mobile phone art: The whole group and together with the guidance of a professional Spanish Visual Artist we will create artistic videos. This is an open tool that almost everyone can use to make artistic creations. We will publish the results in Eramus+ www.youthreporter.eu and in the social media.
- Ceramic signs for Timidarte. We want to create artistic signs made out of Ceramic for the village of streets and sightseeings of Timidarte as a cultural city, to help revealing its identity so visitors can better navigate and find the
Environment
We will work on this topic in two different places. Agdz and Timidarte.
- Green Classroom: After an introduction by gardeners in town on how to work with plants, we will construct a structure to improve their own space in the school and the environmental situation of the world.
- Green Meeting point. With the support and guidance of local people experts in the field, we will construct a Green Meeting Point in the yard of the guest house of the Association Taskala.
Gastronomy
-Traditional Cooking exchange: The teenagers' group coming from Spain will be coordinating the cooking and the exchange of traditional tastes during the project. They were students of gastronomy school, and they are looking for a job at the moment. All the participants will participate and will cook for each other under the supervision of the Spanish gastronomy team.
Documentation
All the participants can switch between the projects every day. So, they can participate in different topics. The participants will also document the project work with video, pictures, and texts and will upload it regularly on www.youthreporter.eu and Instagram.
The intensive cooperation in the projects fosters the communication in English all day long. After a short time, language barriers are reduced, and language skills are rapidly developed. With all these projects we will develop their personalities, through intercultural teamwork, communicating new knowledge, promotion of personal responsibility and initiative, and the generation of an exchange between cultures.
