Settled & Lake District.
I’ve been in England for 15 days now and been to so many places, met so many faces and my muscles are aching.
I’ve been at BBQ‘s, had dinner with a family from South Africa, got to meet some of the youth I’ll be working with throughout my journey, been at conference from my host organizations uni, which will occur every two months, spend lots of quality time with my team & finally met my host family!
For the last couple of days, we’ve been at the Lake District and went trekking. It’s the most beautiful place I’ve ever been to. This trip was about teambuilding and leadership, where everyone had to take part of. I had to be the leader for the first day of hiking. All they gave me was a compass, I’ve never used, a map, I’ve never touched and myself to guide the path. I was pretty insecure and didn’t want to lead the wrong path. At some point I did lead the wrong path, but I somehow figured it out & realized it was wrong. All in all we’ve made it to the final destination, even though it was pretty exhausting, because it was really steep most of the time. The next day we hiked all the way to the highest mountain of England: Scarfell Pike. 978m, exhausting, breathtaking (literally) and worth the view! You could even see the coast of the edge of England from above, where Ireland is near. The Lake District is just a nice place to spend a week in. Peaceful, natural and relaxing! We’ve spent the nights at a beautiful hall with a very nice guy from the reception, I’ve sometimes had chats with at night. And the Lake is just 10m away from the place we’ve stayed in. I wanna go back so bad. So if you’re ever looking for a place to clear your mind & to just spend some time for yourself, the Lake District is the best choice you can make! It was definitely the best place I could’ve ever been to. And I’m proud of my team & I, that we were able to hike all the way up to this mountain, because my muscles still feel stiff and are aching.
