Italien entdecken: Tag 1!
First day of my project about my homecountry with kids!
Finally my German showed improvements, even though I feel still not ready to write a post in German (but I am working on it). I say "finally" because now I can create funny and interactive activities with kids I am working with. I can be a good leader and try to teach them what I know across my life. Last week I started my project called "Italien entdecken" (discovering Italy). Its aim is to let kids know about my homecounrty through simple and enjoyable activities. Kids do not love doing something which sounds like "homework", that's why all my project deals with something they enjoy doing during their freetime.
So, first day: how to introduce Italy to my kids? How to show them how my country looks like without starting a geography class? Through a puzzle! Kids enjoy making puzzles, I daily observe how much effort they put to finish them and their satisfaction when they see the full image as well. I surfed on Internet and found an Italian map suitable for a puzzle and then I cut it in all the regions Italy is composed of. Then, I asked kids to look at every piece and glue it to the right place. They definitely loved it! They were competing among each other, because each one of them wanted to finish the puzzle first!
It was very nice to hear by them: "Giulia, we had fun!" I can't wait for my next step of the project: how to count from 1 to 10 in Italian!
