It's already halftime!

So here I am in my living room back in Germany, writing this "Easter blog" while eating a good old pretzel (I missed them!) and thinking about what's happend during the last few weeks and the last three months I spend in Denmark in general. Coming home for a week as a little Easter holiday and seeing the differences between "my life here" and "my life in Denmark" made me realize how much I've learned and how my EVS has already shaped me in some ways.

I've learned a lot about myself as I had to cope with different tasks and challenges which made me more confident, more relaxed and independent. By managing your personal life and your new "work life" mainly on your own in a foreign country you automatically have to grow I guess :) (Never felt prouder than after successfully hiding the children's Easter buckets outside without them seeing me through the Kindergarten's windows last friday). Also I could learn a lot about others and how to interact in different groups of people: Living in a shared flat with two other girls, being part of a Kindergarten "staff team" and meeting many other volunteers at seminars and in my free time as well.

This is also linked to experiencing Denmark: By visiting other volunteers I already went to Aarhus and Kopenhagen for example- which were the best weekends I've had so far, as I experienced a lot of the Danish culture and lifestyle in only a short span of time. But to get to know Denmark better I don't have to travel around of course, each day my "everyday life" in Rinkenaes and Sonderburg teaches me more about the Danes- the children in Kindergarten, the language classes, even just grocery shopping. So all in all I'm grateful about my new experiences- may they be joyful or sometimes stressful and difficult to handle- and I am happy to see that I don't regret applying for an EVS at all! :)
