To Zugdidi and back
About spending our new year 6 hours from home
Hello everyone!
First of all I wish a happy new year to everybody and as everyone is probably still enjoying the time with their families and friends I will write a bit less today.
My flatmates and me just came back home from Zugdidi in the western part of Georgia where we spent our new year. Zugdidi has 50.000 inhabitants...Rustavi has more than double the number, but anyways we decided to leave our lovely city to spend time with other volunteers who stay in Zugdidi. The train ride took almost 6 hours so now after sitting for so long twice within a few days we are super tired, but I'd say it was definitely worth it because we had a lot of fun. When we arrived at the station Amadeusz, one of the volunteers in Zugdidi, picked us up and walked us to the flat where we would stay. After leaving our stuff we went to the botanical garden in Zugdidi which was really nice. In general the whole city had more green trees than Rustavi but that's not really surprising if you consider the fact that in my almost 4 months in Rustavi it only rained maybe 4 or 5 times and in Zugdidi it was raining the whole time when we were there. After walking around and enjoying the garden we went to eat at a Georgian restaurant with 5 other people. The food was super tasty and we almost rolled outside because we were so full. The most important part of the day, midnight, we spent at the MegoBar (megobari=Georgian word for friend) which is kind of the only bar in Zugdidi,so the other volunteers already knew some people there. They even booked a DJ just for yesterday.
All in all it was a really nice way to spend new year. Happy2020!
