The International Evening
Small Explanation about our self-introduction to the youngsters.
In our first weeks we, vicki and me, arranged a small event to interduce ourselfs to the youngsters.
Todo so we prepared typical food from our home countrys/ regions.
Collected popular music and representive videos, the music played in the background and we expained why we choose the videos and why we think they are repesentive for our home country.
Through expaning, the youngsters started to question things they heard about our home countrys and asked us to explane to them how it really is and also how we think about the differences in laws between our home countrys and finland.
One of the earlier mentioned videos I choose wase the follwing:

It is always a good video to use because its in some way really funny while still being honest.
Because: "We are proud of not being proud."
It also deals with one of the most common misconceptions, that germany is just full of Nazis.
I also talked a lot about our alcohol laws as we are allowed to drink alcoholic beverages till a around 5% of alcohol with the age of 16 while the minimum age for alcohol in Finland is 18. And what I think about the consumation of cannabis.
One youngster was also interested in the german immigration policy.
Also the fact that it is not illegal to break out of a prison in germany (just the act of fleeing), suprised the youngsters and I spend a long time explaning why.
The Pictures Show some Food we made, you can see Reibeplätzchen from my home region in german and Tortilla from Spain.
