Teamwork makes the dreamwork
Solidarity works best if we accept each other's differences and cherish them because then we can understand that together we are capable of moving moutains. The purpose of solidarity is to embody mutual care. We are not only bodies but acting, living, feeling human creatures thus we should embrace each soul to achieve unity.
Solidarity, szolidaritás, solidaritate, solidarité, solidaridad, solidariteit...the same word in each language I speak or that has played a significant role in my life. Even if the spelling is different, the meaning does not change. Regardless of what langauge we speak or what cultural background we have, we do think similarly. Solidarity is about cherishing each individual,it is about mutual support and empowerment. We are all unique but we are also part of the human race which we should celebrate and not destroy.
I am a Hungarian girl who was born and raised in Romania. For me speaking more than one language has never been strange. My parents taught me to speak in my mother tongue and in school I adapted myself to speaking two other languages, English and Romanian. While I lived my life there it was no question for me which nationality I belong to. I considered myself a proud Hungarian. Then I started high school in Hungary. I made new friends, studied a couple more languages like French, Spanish and Dutch. My classmates had several questions on how I felt about being a Hungarian in another country where there is an obvious tension between the two nations. I felt that. I knew that we cannot deny the past and that we had struggles during our history. But now I developed a new viewpoint. I became a strong believer of unity. I had to realize that I cannot be thankful enough for what my home country has given me. Even though I felt like I belong to somewhere else, my heart kept saying that I belong everywhere. We have moved tons of times and I constantly met new people. I came to a conclusion that home is where we love. And I state that we are loved if we lift each other up.
That is the role of solidarity in my life. According to Cambridge Dictionary the synonyms of solidarity are accept, consensus, embrace. It also describes the phenomenon as an agreement between the members of a group. In my opinion we should define which group do we take part of. That is where my point is. Instead of trying to fit somewhere, instead of insisting on being accepted only to one single team, we must understand that we are a unity. We are one troop and we are already part of it. We are part of it since we were born. It is undebatable that we have to find our identity because we are able to contribute when we are in harmony with our thoughts, actions and feelings. We all crave solidarity, we desire to be part of something and it is uplifting to accept others.
Then why does it seem like solidarity has disappeared? We see that we need it, then why are we so ignorant with each other? Why did we become so cold? One could never answer that.
For me solidarity means something divine. It lays on important pillars of social interaction like communication and acceptance. I claim that by nourishing each other we can all achieve goals as individuals and as a group too. One should also tell his aims, goals and hopes for the future. We all have to expect the best because at the end of the day we are all humans. We all need someone to hold on to when everything falls apart. As Jose Manuel Barroso quoted ''There is no stability without solidarity and no solidarity without stability."
