Streetart in Dublin

Ok, here me out ...

I have been living in Dublin for over two weeks now and I can´t help but notice how depressing the brick and beton buildings everywhere can make you feel. Especcially during rainy, windy weather and dark clowds you start to miss that nice Vitamin D and the warm touch of the sun on your skin.  ( See Picture 1)

In general Dublin´s buildings are mostly made of bricks or beton, even though it has beutifull churches it stays pretty monotone in one area. ( See Picture 2 ) 

The people of Dublin seek to conquer this dark weather with their charme and started to paint their doors really colourfull. It gives their houses some individuallity and ads a pop of colour to the city.

However they usually work on a small scale.

Which leads us to the big guys, the Dublin Canvas. Their mission is to bring colour and art to Dublin, using unnoticed junction boxes. 

They want " LESS GREY - MORE PLAY"   (http://dublincanvis.ie)

They use junction boxes that we usually think of as dirty and boring and turn them into masterpieces. The great thing is that everybody over 18 can become the artiste and a part of this movement. You just have to submit a design and take part in the selection process. They are looking for colourfull and three-dimensional ideas.

They are selecting artists for 111 boxes and the 13.03.2019.

I was actually thinking about submitting an idea myself, which you can probably read about on my next blog entry.           

Now let´s come to the really interesting part, the art itself. I linked several pictures of the art I saw arround town. The artists are mentioned in a small box on the canvas. ( See Picture 5 ) If you find them as intriguing as I do you have to check out their instagram account:

They have all the artists linked and lots and lots of fun and interesting designes waiting for you. 

I believe that this projct is diverse, beautifull and definitly having a huge impact on the way peple look at the city.
