Ohh, Heidelberg!

Heidelberg, one of the most beautiful cities of Germany! If you are ever somewhere close to this city, you should definitely find time and see this amazing place.

As always, I am not going to dive into many details, but I will attach links with lots of useful information you can check later.

Soo, it’s easy to get to Heidelberg from Stuttgart or from other cities with a FlixBus

1. Schloss Heidelberg

This is one of the most beautiful castles in Germany. It was built as a fortress in the 13th century and later became a seat for German rulers. It has been destroyed few times during the wars, but the ruins of the castle genuinely enhance the city. There is also a pharmacy museum in the castle.

2. Deutsches Apotheken-Museum

This museum is really for those, who have interest in medicine and pharmaceuticals.  The stories on the walls of the museum tell a lot about the development of medicine. It was the first time for me to be in a pharmacy museum and I enjoyed and learnt it a lot.

3. Alte Brücke (Old Bridge)

When you step on this amazingly beautiful bridge, your hearth really fills with joy and happiness. This structure, which dates back to more than 200 years, is really impressive.

4. Church of the Holy Spirit

This is the main church of Heidelberg. It’s a Gothic church dating back to the 13th century. It was also possible to get to the top of the church tower and enjoy the fantastic view of Heidelberg.

5. Philosophenweg

Philosophenweg is a two-kilometre path leading to the top of the hill, which presents the best views of the city. It was American writer Mark Twain’s favorite route to walk and ruminate. For me the hike was really challenging as the weather was not nice, but the view and feelings one gets at the end were worth the effort.

 6. Heidelberg Thingstätte

At the end of the same hill, after the challenging hike you find yourself at Thingstätte, which is a Nazi period theatre. It could host 8,000 seated and 15,000 standing spectators.
