Winter is coming: “menu” of movies you should watch
December is the month of preparations. For Christmas and New Year, holiday vibes and evening movies. In anticipation of the winter mood, the hands themselves are looking for atmospheric films. Especially, we – volunteers, need some time for rest, thinking of ourselves and spending time with the closest people. I have done a small research to simplify this procedure for you! In this “menu” you can find seven delicious and surprisingly simple recipes that will make your winter warmer.
Spoiler: There is no place for such film as "Home Alone" (you anyway keep it in your mind without my notification) and other classics of Christmas movies.
"Let it snow", 2019
Maybe do the opposite and start with dessert? The first film in the selection resembles almond cookies sprinkled with icing sugar - the feast has not yet begun, but you have not resisted the temptation to taste it. The film from Netflix was based on the book of the same name by John Green, Lauren Miracle and Maureen Johnson. These are the stories of several teenagers who are united by one natural phenomenon on Christmas Eve - snowfall. While the neighborhood is covered with such snow that we can only dream of in December, the main characters fall in love, clarify the relationship, understand the value of true friendship and eat waffles in a small and cozy diner. As it happens, the film and the book are quite different, but this is a good reason to watch the first and read the second, because these stories are very atmospheric! Your mood recipe will be extremely simple: invite your best friends (just while without hugs, be patient), make hot tea and do not forget about cookies or waffles. And the magic of snowfalls in "Let it snow" will take care of everything else.

"Hello family", 2005
It is a good aperitif, it will only be tastier after it. The film is about the Stone family and the girl Meredith (played by the unsurpassed Sarah Jessica Parker). Meredith is soon to become Stone too, as she has recently become Everett's fiancée. Spending Christmas with his loved ones and meeting future relatives on holidays seemed like a good idea, but from the beginning something went wrong. She can't find a common language with the Stones, everything is in full swing, in a Christmas mood and doesn't smell. This trip for Meredith will be completely different than she expected, and the holidays, no matter what, will be truly "family". Well, the recipe for you is a warm blanket, under which you can climb with your parents and discover simple truths, while there are no captions.

"Friends of Peter", 1992
Watching this film will be our snack - easy and with a minimal feeling of hunger after. "Friends of Peter" is not about Christmas. In the film, a group of friends who have not seen each other for a long time meet to celebrate the New Year. Peter invites them to his large estate to have a good time. However, acquaintances who have not seen each other for a long time always have something to tell each other, something to rethink and something to hide. Peter's Friends is a casual film with great music. Winter, but not crowded with commercial symbols of the Christmas holidays. The viewing recipe consists of a handy 90s-style oversize outfit and something to crunch.

"Klaus", 2019
Haven't you seen Claus yet? Then it must be corrected this winter, because "Klaus" is like a main course - no one gets up from the table until they taste it. The cartoon once again interprets the story of a bearded man in red pants, to whom children write letters in the hope of receiving gifts. This time there was no banality! First, the cartoon introduces us to a lazy young man Jesper. A wealthy father sends him far, far north, hoping that there he will eventually enjoy life and begin to appreciate what was so easily given to him. Now Jesper has to set up a post office and process 6,000 letters. But where to get them, if the townspeople are more busy fighting with each other than correspondence? "Klaus" is a very touching story with double meanings that are surprisingly easy to catch. You just need to get used to the visual design of the cartoon, because it is not banal, like the plot itself. The mood recipe for watching "Klaus" consists of: garlands - 1 piece to be warmer among the harsh northern landscapes; handkerchiefs - a lot, because we can not promise that the viewing will be without tears.

"The man who invented Christmas ", 2017
After the meal, in the style of traditional European manners, a digestive is served - something strong that will promote digestion. "The man who invented Christmas" is also something traditional, because the film once again tells the well-known Christmas story. This time the protagonist is not the stingy Mr. Scrooge, but the author of the "song in prose" - Charles Dickens. The film shows the process of creating a story that became a symbol of Christmas and drew attention to the unjust differences between social classes. The film turned out as good and sincere as the classic Dickens story. Light candles and take a delicacy that will remind you of your childhood - this is such a simple recipe for the mood for the movie "The Man Who Invented Christmas".

"Letters to M", 2017 (all parts)
Anthology films are like nothing else reminiscent of candies from bright gift sets. All bright and different, but from one box. Polish films "Letters to M" follow the idea of the hit film "Real Love". Each film has several stories about the beautiful and eternal - love, family relationships, belief in miracles. The action takes place against the backdrop of romantic winter locations, the music perfectly complements the picture. While watching, you want to laugh and cry, and most importantly - to empathize with the characters. The film has become a classic in Poland, so three parts of it have been released on the big screens, and a fourth is being prepared for release. The mood recipe for watching these movies is sure to include warm sweaters and a person you want to hug.

"Merry Christmas", 2019
That is a classic Christmas movie with lots of lights and a hit song as a soundtrack, like "Last Christmas" for example. In fact, "Merry Christmas" can be Irish coffee - as if delicious and sweet, but you never know how strong it will be. This is a story about a girl who does not care about the festive mood around. Her life consists of trouble and wrong decisions. Problems at work, problems in communicating with parents and no skill in building personal relationships. This is all of course until she meets a guy who is the complete opposite of her. Yes, it's a movie about love, but not to the end. It addresses the problems of emigrants, helping the homeless, finding themselves and others. Your mood recipe is funny winter socks, a big pot of cocoa or coffee and someone with whom you can sing "Last Christmas" without even getting into the notes.
