Update from Latvia
Autumn is here. Corona is back. An update from Latvia.
Life changed a bit. Slowly but steady it’s getting colder and colder. Autumn is coming and also the way how we spend our time changes. There are still some crazy Latvians who ask me if I want to come for a swim in the sea but seriously, I'm still too young to die.
Especially the part of living next to the sea changed. I'm still in love with the sea but don’t go to the beach that often anymore because of the weather. It was just different in summer. Beach volleyball, swimming or just hanging out at the beach is better when it’s warm outside. But still, it’s a dream to live so close to the water and I’m really thankful for this time. Meanwhile I go more often to Riga and meet friends there instead of spending time together at the beach. I really like the city's culture and also the nightlife is it definitely worth to experience once.
Besides that, also Ventspils public life changed because the schools and university started to work. Everyone is busy and I don’t spend that much time with friends during the week anymore.
And then there is Corona...
Back after a summer where I almost forgot that we live in this crisis. It was there but not that present anymore because Latvia controlled it and there were no cases showing up. And now the second wave rolls over Europe and it feels like every country brings back restrictions that affect everyone's life. Here in Latvia it's still quite fine. But also, here restrictions are coming back and for the first time it’s mandatory to wear face masks even in supermarkets.
All in all, it’s still a great time. It's just different. Life happens more inside and the way how we meet and spend time changed. Today, I have exactly two more months here in Latvia. That’s a long time and I really want to use it and try to enjoy it every day.
Tad redzēs.
