Tortenholvarden
- Enjoying myself 880m above sea level -
Hi guys! After assailing you with several blog entries in the past two weeks, I make it short today. By the way, May brought and still brings us a lot of sun, which is why I want to spend as much time as possible outside and not in front of my laptop. In that context, I went hiking again, which was worth taking detours around the remaining snowfields to reach the top of Tortenholvarden. The only problem occurring is that I have difficulties to find new trails around Nordfjordeid – I have been on all the mountains around, sometimes even several times and at some point it gets a bit boring visiting the same places over and over again…
Therefore it was nice that Åse took us to Kjølsdalen on Friday, a town next to the Nordfjord, where we went to the local “Naturmøteplass” (literally translated: nature meeting place). Sometimes activities like this are held to meet up with people, have a barbecue outside, play some games or build birdhouses in this case. A little petting zoo (with sheep, goats, a calf and two ponies) for children was also provided by a local farmer, which was very nice.
The point of these meetings is to connect people from the whole community (Kjølsdalen is part of Eid), give children the possibility to earn new experiences and have fun, and to create a sense of togetherness while enjoying oneself in the nature. But still mostly locals participate in their local meetings, even if the community of Eid provides many different activities for everybody. It is really difficult to get people from all these remote places together, because they live quite far from each other, even if it is the same community. But only with enough people more activities can be offered and organized, which is one of the goals Åse wants to achieve in Eid. I love the idea of it, but I think it will be difficult and take a lot of time till things gain momentum. It is just the way how Norway works in certain matters. Still I wish her project all the best and hope it will work out the way Åse wants it to :)
Greetings,
Alisa
