The beginning is the most difficult
You shouldn’t be in panic if you are nearly 30 and you get a chance to move abroad, doing an EVS there. That is undoubtedly the most difficult challenge we will have to tackle because if you will not do it - you don’t have an experience. What`s going on inside you?
Probably you meet also with the same general problems, if you are this generation:
The challenge is before you. You get wise the fact and you are in action. But the way is not even so easy if you had a “normal life” (without wife or husband, child or pets…) like the other million people who are at a similar age. Mostly in yourself. Maybe it will become an agony what is the good way. What do you want to do in the next year in your life? Furthermore, if you had a flat, a job, and your ingrained habits in your days. At this time you can feel, life is simple and good!
But do you feel it sometimes inside, that you must do something...something new?! For example a volunteer service for a year, where you can try yourself, your talent, your knowledge, and also your trust in yourself? Get to grip with your thoughts in your mind. This will be really hard. And some duality questions go in your head before the choice: When will the next chance or possibility come to go to abroad for one year? Or to work like an EVS Volunteer? In language environment learning the language for free? And having a year with yourself. Thinking of what I really want to do in my life.
And also some questions buzz around one´s head: What will happen after the EVS? Where can I work after EVS? What happens if I leave my country and everything, and I will not feel good abroad? Is it an action from adult?Well, if you do not have problems, you do it. If you feel that you have not enough challenges in life, you want to get better you do not make it easy for yourself. That’s why the young stay young. Gathering your courage! If you want something else, something new, some experiences, you must do this! And if you hesitate, do not do. Because your family and your friends support you. And then you go for a long series of odds.
Maybe you felt duality: going or staying. But in my opinion, this feels everybody who wants to move abroad. But you should not be afraid of new things – they make you stronger, better. The beginning is the most difficult: in everything, everytime. Of course, because you are in an unknown situation, in an unknown city abroad. And if you are in the finish and you are arrive at your new home. There are also some generell problems, which you have to solve in yourself. It’s time to take into new life with new room, with new flat-mates, with new kitchen and new staff.
From my experiences I can say that it is sometimes really hard to leave your daily habits behind go for some new challenges. Fit in in a group, share the bathroom with other people. But it is worth it. For all the positive and negative situations, experiences, culture-shockings, which you can explore in your new world.
And you? Did you try to let it go everything for a year?
