Name: Woman, Nationality: World
During EVS in Hungary I was touched by 2 persons and this is about them, mainly a story based on the feelings
It was upon a time that I finished master and unfortunately lack of job opportunities, I was looking for something to complete the missing part inside me. As I understand that I can not involve in the boring system of the world. Until I reach my EVS, I tried a lot and I tried to force to open same doors maybe thousand times. At the end Just I asked it may go well somehow. There was just boredom in that cosmopolite city but when the packing finished I felt the little fear due to unknown. I have been abroad before as Erasmus student and different kind of youth training programme but this time it was different. It was long period and I didn’t know anybody from Hungary!
All my fear became true for this unknown journey. First of all, I missed check-in at the airport and my flight delayed to night. For this reason I went back to my aunt who they live close to Ataturk Airport rather than go back to Asian side. After that when the time was over to go to airport, the driver of the taxi that I got on, asked me why I was going to Hungary, while all people are going Western Europe. The story began without knowing what would happen…
Even after I arrived Hungary some challenges continued: I didn’t reach my mentor easily, In the volunteers house the internet was not working and I was alone etc…But finally I started to look through the window of Köbanya Kispest/ Budapest and I was fascinated to be surrounded with the beautiful view of the city and after that time, I started to call the city as a city of fairy tale. I can not say only one thing that is the best in Budapest. Beacuse there are lots of things in this city. First of all, the view from Buda Castle is perfect at night time with lots of lights. Then drinking hot wine at Christmas market and going up to the Gellert Hill or doing some sport even it is freezing in Margit Island. After leaving clubs at late time, using the night busses and before arriving home stop somewhere to eat „Gyros” or „A slice of Pizza” that will remind me this city and its freedom! I love Budapest and I love its chocolate Turo Rudi also.
My project in Hungary had 2 parts and 2 venues. The aim was project to organize leisure activities for Roma children and refugee children. The first part of the project took place in Budapest and the second part took place in small village close to the Budapest in refugee integration camp.
And I was fascinated with 2 people during my EVS in Hungary. One of them was mentor in the organization but even though she was not of mine. First of all she was woman who has a story. I didn’t involve in too much but I was inspired a lot and our friendship still continue even I came back Turkey and she stayed in Budapest. I want to describe her with a cd title that I saw it in her house (I don’t remember the singer) Her name: woman, her nationality: World. She was supporting the humanitarian ideas and her taste of life was motivated, she was open –minded, she was able to speak a few languages like Turkish, English, German, Kurdish (hehe maybe I forgot some of them ). Whenever I feel tired because of supporting humanitarian ideas and because of I am opponent, directly I go to her and always come to myself after I consult her. We had lots of memories but first I caught Mikulas for the Saint Nicholas day and all my chocolates were from her. After that I tasted *Gulas* (Hungarian traditional food ) and Palinka (Hungarian traditional drink) in the special dinner in her house and I tried different kind of adrenalin sport in Zebegeny-Kismaros (It was trekking but in snowy mountains) and right now she adopted one Roman child (amazing!)
Wherever I go I complete my story with a refugee story. Finally I was in Bicske camp and I had big experience to learn one culture from the first hand. It was nondefinable feeling to be in refugee camp, to have conversation with them and to share their hopes and challenges. Second person who I was inspired was migrant from Afghanistan. He rejected all identities which was imposed by community to him and he chose another id for himself: `Migrant` Even I knew him before I came to the camp, I didn’t meet face to face. But after I came and started living in the camp, I had more time to learn about him and we started to spend more time together. Even we joined a demonstration together. But the first night in the camp was awful because I felt isolated in this limited place. Through his philosophical thoughts, I found opportunities to lighten my days in the camp. He was among few persons in the camp who speak English fluently. Every day after my voluntarily job in the camp, we were we spending time by walking for hours. We didn’t know how much time we were talking and spending time together. Sometimes if it was so cold outside we were drinking Afghan tea and or sometimes we were eating Afghan bread as late night food. Please see some sentences from him below:
`This is the beauty of life that wherever we go and every stage of life we meet some new people and Almighty Allah has given a nature to a human being that he adjust very quickly with the surroundings."
`This is just a little advice for anyone who needs one, to achieve all your goals (reasonable ones) in your life, you don’t have to be perfect, you just need to be you, but, however, you need to adjust to every place you got to be, to the people you gotta deal with, and forthat I suggest a simple thing, be polite and smile, two simple things that will lead you everywhere you want`
``You will have it, but you have to patient for it. you will get what you want,, but on its perfect time ,infact, you never turst in yourself and God does everything for a reason, and he loves his human creation, even more then 70 mothers so if something doest happens accourding our desires it means God knows that is not perfect for us`
`Allah Hafiz` (In Afghan language kind of good bye)
I don’t know when I will meet my inspired friends again. But my Afghan friend moved Norwey…Time to time I have news from him by internet.
What we can say they are always on the way as migrants.....
But my mentor is coming to Turkey time to time…..(she become my real friend)
