IMAGINE LIFE
This poem started out as a much shorter version during my first term grammar and vocab course at uni in November 2012. But since then I've changed - and I think improved :) - it and now I would like to share it with you. It is a poem about life, about how life is or should be, and about how life isn't...and also about how life is even though we want it to be different. Mostly it is a jumble of my thoughts, though. :D As I am an optimistic person, it finishes on a positive note, too.

IMAGINE a world
You succeed if you try
IMAGINE this world
Ideas flying high
Like feathers, like stars
Glowing dreams in the air
Inspiration and hope
Open minds everywhere
IMAGINE a world
Where people can fly
Away through the clouds
They drift through the sky
Undaunted by trouble
Unhindered by fear
We could all breathe freely
And finally see clear
Focus on what matters
Leave the past far behind
Live today, take your chances
You can't press rewind
Look up at the stars
See eternity thrive
Lose yourself in the heavens
Feel the grand vibe of life
The world's distant beauty
Is all you can see
Below lie our worries
Up here we are free
As free as the songbirds
We don't want it to end
Reality scares us
A bare stretch of land
A wasteland of burdens
Dull, tiring and bleak
Our everyday struggle
Week after week
Life can be frustrating
We long to break out
If only we knew how
To bring it about
IMAGINE a world
Where you make all things new

Where your best dreams come true
Naïve wishful thinking
Or so it may seem
Look closer, you'll realise
Life's more than a dream
A beacon of hope
Glowing in the dark night
Advice to remember
It will lead us to light
Embrace every day
Find courage to dive
