How to learn Germany by myself?
Anyone can learn a new language, it just takes will.
WATCH TV
You come back from work exhausted, you don’t want to open a grammar book, it’s OK just watch TV in German. If you can, turn the subtitles on. It’s often possible on the teletext, but not on every channel.
WATCH MOVIES/ DVDs/TV SHOWS
Watch movies/series in German with the German subtitles. One of the best ways of learning the language because you can hear it, read it, and often guess the meaning of new words according to the context.
If you are a beginner start with Walt Disney movies; especially if you already know the movies.
RADIO
It’s always difficult to train the ear to a new language. If you listen the radio regularly (even as a background), you will improve your hearing process. Even if you don’t understand anything, you are still learning something.
SPEAK ONLY GERMAN WITH COLLEAGUES; FAMILY AND FRIENDS
LISTEN TO GERMAN MUSIC
1.Pick up a song
2. Listen a few times. Try to understand the lyrics. By understanding the lyrics, I mean: recognize the words, not specially understanding the meaning of the words! If you do both even better. Listen that song as often as you can!
ON THE WEB
With free German courses from the web, you can choose the learning style that suits you best: e-learning at the computer, with short videos, audio courses or podcasts, or with texts and worksheets you can print out. Select from courses for beginners, intermediate learners, and advanced learners.
TANDEM
What is tandem? Two partners with different native languages learn from each other. Tandem stands for stimulating language learning and cultural exchange: you are flexible regarding time and place, you choose learning goals and methods according to your needs and interests, you acquire language skills in an authentic context and learn more about another culture…
APPS
Duolingo, babbel, memrise, anki, busuu…
TO LOSE THE FEAR
To learn a new language, the first thing you have to be is audacious. You have to let go of that concept that you have to do everything perfect. Frustration should not have a place because we must be aware that things are not learned by themselves, nor immediately, nor does everyone have the same learning capacity. You learn by making mistakes. It's part of learning and nothing happens.
REGULARITY
The more exposed you are to the language in which you want to be educated, the better the results you will obtain. Most of the students think: ''Ah! I don't have a facility for languages'. It is true that there are very talented people, but anyone can learn a language, what happens is that they have to be in contact with that language and have the will.
