Erasmus generation travelling in the new Europe

The last months have been hard for all of us and changed our projects and plans.

Especially for Erasmus generation: many volunteers went home and many others stayed in their projects.

The worse seems to be passed by, lockdown is less strictly in many countries and Europe is going to open its borders again.

How will travelling be in the new Europe?

It seems that, on the one hand, the trend of Erasmus generation is travelling in our own counties.

Yes, the Erasmus generation “stays home”: the economy of many countries seems to be damaged from the lockdown and the active citizens of Europe decided to help it by supporting local tourism and buying local. After the hashtag #stayhome, used by thousands of users during lockdown, the hashtags used to define the tourism recovery are: #travellocal #supportlocal and others similar!

On the other hand, other members of Erasmus generation do not let them stop from the Coronavirus and do not change their plane to explore the globe, by going abroad and taking flights.

Here are the new norms used in the airports.

Online Check-in: all passengers need to arrive at the airport having done the online check-in. The reason is easy. In this way people tend not to stay one close to the other while waiting in the line. Easy, smart and quicklier!

Arriving on time. No more late arrive in the airport, so that everything can be done in a precise way and respecting all rules.

Wearing mask and hand-gloves. Two accessories we have become familiar to for about three months. It will be mandatory wearing the mask during the whole flight.

Taking the temperature to passengers will be one of the rules in all airports. It could be expected also a fast test to check the presence of the virus, but it is an unofficial information.

Constant sanitization of luggage and public places, like toilets, also during the flight.

Furthermore, there will be a test with the technology of biometric control: it will be used for six months in Roma Fiumicinio airport only with passengers flying to Amsterdam with the company KLM (1). The aim is to make everything quicker to avoid gatherings of people, while waiting in lines.

Covid19 Insurance

Finally, if people decide to travel local or to go abroad there is a news also in the field of insurance. Many companies give the opportunity to choose a Covid insurance that covers people for hospitalization during and until 15 days after the travel. Definitely useful for those who cannot stay without travelling.
