First of all I want to say that Christmas holiday is new tradition for us. I have heard a lot of about it but it is initial living such tradition. As this tradition belongs to Christian nations our country doesn’t celebrate it. We celebrate just Happy New Year on 31 December decorating Christmas tree, baking chicken variety sweets, cakes, salads and making fireworks. Danish Yule is celebrated throughout December starting either on December 1 with a variety of traditions. December 1-24 each day children receive a small present and it is called Christmas calendar. We have aslo organized it in kindergarten togather with children. From 1 December until 24 each child coincidently was accepting small present and cutting away same day from calendar and child who have accepted present taking small juleman figure to prepare story with family about juleman’s action in their home. Next day pedagog of kindergarten would tell this story all the children. It was very amasing.Furthermore all children have prepared gifts for parents and us. Also we have been got presents by staff of kindergarten. Main event of Jule is celebrated on evening of December 24. Also Danish Jul has special features that related to Scandinavian myth. One of them is different type of gnomes figures which it is very easy seeing around Christmas trees or differen parts of meeting and etc. Second is risengrød that I have eaten and it tastes as our national meal(südlü aş). We have attended meeting at 12 December where was organized very well everything was wonderfull and there was band. We were offently getting up singing christmas music togather, dancing and tasting different sort of danish meals.
