A New Level
2021 has come - I have just turned 24, enjoying the first few days of the New Year, just thinking about the past, the present and the future.
2020 was a colorful year - it started off well, the basketball season was going well, I still remember the 7 game win streak with my team that pushed us into the playoff picture. In March, loads of things changed due to the pandemic - in my opinion losing my job and dislocating my shoulder once again in a few weeks span kind of took a big hit on me mentally and physically, but in late May I went across country to participate in my first ESC project.
It was quite a turning point for me as during my time in Liepaja, Latvia I decided that I'm coming to Czech Republic to go through another project. Of course, I didn't realise that I'll have to more or less quarantine for almost 4 months straight, and surprisingly I'm still keeping my sanity well.
Speaking of winter holidays, I had loads of fun, even though I came to realise that I haven't spent these holidays with my family for a good few years now (Mom, I promise you it's going to be different this year) and at first it was a tough pill to swallow - being borderline alone in a foreign country with barely anyone to talk to besides the three, four people I see on a daily doesn't do the trick that well anymore. During New Years Eve preparations I kept in mind that I have to set a certain set of goals to accomplish troughout 2021 so I took a sheet of paper, wrote down a few key things for each month, that lead to a bigger goal down the line, and now I'll just try my best to follow up on all that - we'll see how it goes!
2020 planwise wasn't the best one due to sudden changes in life globally but I still count it as a good year because I got to know loads of great people who I like to be around with day in and day out (well, not literally, more like "I like to hang out with them") - of course, I made a lot of mistakes in 2020, and some of them might be felt until today but I'm really determined to be a better person, a better friend and, most importantly, a better family member un 2021 and beyond.
In conclusion I would like to tell everyone who reads my blog posts (thank you for that, I might not take this as serious as other people, but I genuinely like to post a thing or two on here) - be strong, be positive (not when it comes to COVID tests), be friendly and just smile. No matter what happens in life, a smile a day keeps the pain away.
Happy New Year!
